I have lived in West Northamptonshire for over 20 years – since we moved here when we fell in love with the area. First we lived in the villages of Moreton Pinkney and Weedon before moving to Daventry in 2004. Originally from Birmingham I always say I have lived in Daventry longer than I lived in Birmingham and I feel very much a Daventry man now. I am married with two school-age children.
I joined Daventry Town Council in 2008 where I also had the enormous privilege to become the Chair of Daventry Town Council and the Mayor of Daventry before then being elected to Daventry District Council in 2012. I was the Daventry District Councillor for Abbey South then until the West Northamptonshire Council was formed in 2021 and I was again delighted to be elected to represent the new area of Daventry East where I have the pleasure of working with fellow ward councillors David James and Peter Matten – where we form the trio of councillors supporting our community in Daventry East – which covers the main town centre of Daventry itself.
On Daventry District Council I held positions as the Portfolio Holder for Resources and Chair of Scrutiny Committee. On West Northamptonshire Council I have held the position of Assistant Cabinet Member for Climate Change, supporting our drive to NetZero and working with officers to adopt an approach to monitoring and reporting our carbon emissions across West Northamptonshire. I now sit on Overview & Scrutiny which I have been a member of since April 2021.
I really enjoy supporting the people of Daventry and often when I travel away for a day or two on business or a family trip – I am always proud to return to Daventry which is a friendly town and the perfect size to live and enjoy socially – as I always say to my family when we come home from somewhere – it’s always such a pleasure to come back home to Daventry.
