Cllr Jo Gilford is Ward member for Woodford and Weedon: Vice Chair of West Northamptonshire Council: Assistant Director for Waste and a Director of Norse Ltd.
She has been a local councillor since 2011, and before that was an officer at Daventry District Council. Next year will see her having served for 25 years in local government. Jo considers it an honour and privilege to be Vice Chair (Chair in waiting) of WNC.
Originally, from Birmingham, Jo moved to Daventry with her mother a nurse as part of the Birmingham overspill in the 70’s. Jo has had three careers, reaching the summit in all. The first in the private sector as a Practice Manager in an accountancy firm in Northampton, the second as a Corporate Manager at Daventry District Council and the third, her current role a Managing Partner at a GP surgery. Jo has therefore been in the unique position of having obtained real-life working experience of the private, public and NHS sectors, which serves her well in supporting the residents of West Northamptonshire Council and her Ward. Jo has also been a member of numerous committees during her service and lead various projects across the area.
Her political career sees her at another summit in her role as Deputy Chair Political of the Daventry Conservatives. Jo is often out canvassing and supporting her local conservatives and enjoys talking to residents on the doorstep.
In the little spare time she has, her passions are swimming, ballroom dancing, and ancestry.
