We are delighted to announce that, following a meeting of members across Northamptonshire, Martyn Emberson has been selected as the Conservative candidate at the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner elections which are taking place on Thursday 2nd May.
Martyn has spent 34 years in the Fire Service, of which, nine years was spent as Chief Fire Officer in Northamptonshire. He introduced world leading technology and the modern integrated emergency services that are currently keeping us safe. Following on from his role at Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, he was the Chief Inspector of the Fire Service in Scotland, holding the largest and most diverse service in the UK to account.
Locally, he has been a magistrate for nine years, enforcing the law whilst seeing and dealing with the results of crime. He has the professional knowledge of all the emergency services and a proven track record of holding them to account, which he will apply immediately upon election.
Conservatives have already delivered:
- The most Police officers that Northamptonshire has ever had.
- Increased Police visibility by increasing the number of neighbourhood police officers.
- All crime is down: Knife crime, Violence against the person, Anti-Social Behaviour all down.
- Significant investment in ANPR cameras which has increased arrests and vehicle seizures.
- £5m additional funding for the Fire Service, resulting in additional firefighters and new appliances and equipment.
- Combined buildings for Police and Fire together, maximising the investment for the front line.
- Supported a local victims service, supporting both victims and witnesses of crime.
- Introduced community grants and sponsored PCSO schemes.
- Secured £17 million additional grant funding for community safety, early intervention, and young people.
It is time to take it to the next level, under Martyn's leadership. His priorities are:
- Strong, supportive, visible leadership for our Emergency Services.
- Set a new ‘Police, Fire and Crime Plan’, in consultation with you, to address your issues.
- Zero tolerance on all crime whilst maintaining the focus on on knife crime, drugs, cybercrime, domestic violence, anti-social behaviour and rural crime.
- Fire and Police to respond in a timely manner and protect the vulnerable through prevention and support.
- More effective team working to produce better, more cost-effective results for a safer community.
- Greater support for our frontline staff.
There is more to do, and Martyn has the experience, knowledge, and commitment to drive this forward, with you, for our benefit.
Vote for Martyn Emberson on the 2nd May for the next generation of Emergency Services in Northamptonshire.
